The road will lead to Gorh’s residence in Lakhimpur district. Gorh scaled Mount Everest on May 21, as part of the ITBP All-Women’s Everest Expedition, becoming the first woman from Assam to achieve the feat.

The announcement was made during an event at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Dispur, where Gorh was felicitated by the Chief Minister.

Officials said the move was a recognition of Gorh’s perseverance and achievement. However, no timeline for the construction of the road has been announced yet.

Gorh’s achievement marks a significant milestone for Assam in mountaineering and women’s participation in adventure sports.
