Assam to Pay Salaries of 15,029 Regularised Teachers From State Exchequer


 

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has decided to pay the salaries of 15,029 Special Recruitment Drive (SRD) regularised teachers directly from the State exchequer through the respective State Treasuries, following concurrence from the Finance Department.

According to a notification issued by the Department of School Education on October 1, the arrangement has been approved for the financial year 2026-27.

Under the arrangement, the entire PAB-approved allocation of ₹459.79 crore under Samagra Shiksha’s “Financial Support for Teachers’ Salary” component will be used exclusively to pay the salaries of 10,267 SSA contractual teachers.

The salaries of these contractual teachers will be processed through the SNA-SPARSH mechanism during the current financial year.

Meanwhile, the salary liability of the 15,029 SRD-regularised teachers will be met by the State Government through salary bills submitted by the concerned Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) and Block Elementary Education Officers (BEEOs) directly to the respective State Treasuries.

The department has directed the concerned authorities to issue necessary Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and sensitise the DDOs and BEEOs to ensure proper implementation of the arrangement.

Authorities have also been instructed to monitor the utilisation of funds periodically and ensure that the entire ₹459.79 crore allocation is utilised within the current financial year.

The notification, issued by Joint Secretary to the Government of Assam Anuja Bhuyan, was addressed to the Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha, Assam, and the Director of Elementary Education, Assam.
