GUWAHATI: The Athgaon Sarvajanik Durga Puja Samity has announced its theme for the upcoming 2026 Durga Puja, "SWARNAGIRI: Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple." The pandal will recreate the grandeur of South Indian temple architecture in Guwahati, with the organisers promising a focus on devotion, heritage, and art to deliver an immersive experience for visitors.

Alongside the temple-inspired theme, the Samity has also teased a special surprise element for this year's celebration, keeping details under wraps for now.
Athgaon has built a reputation for its unique thematic pandals since 1983, having previously showcased themes such as the Cellular Jail, a 112-foot Shiva, African Tribal Lifestyle, and Indraprastha-Mahabharata & AI. Last year's theme, Harry Potter, was a major crowd-puller and earned the Samity two prestigious honours: Radio Mirchi's Most Iconic Puja award and the Times of India's Best Theme Pandal award.
With "Swarnagiri," themed around the message "United by Devotion, Inspired by Heritage," Athgaon aims to continue its tradition of ambitious, large-scale thematic presentations, building anticipation among the city's Puja enthusiasts ahead of the festival.
