GUWAHATI: Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury was sworn in as the State Chief Information Commissioner of Assam on Thursday, August 6, at a ceremony held at the conference hall of Lok Bhavan in Guwahati.

Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the oath of office to Choudhury during the ceremony.
The proceedings began after Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, Ravi Kota, sought the Governor's permission to commence the oath-taking ceremony.
The event was attended by State Information Commissioner Reep Hazarika, State Information Commissioner Utpal Baruah, Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor S.S. Meenakshi Sundara, Commissioner and Secretary of the Administrative Reforms, Training, Pension and Public Grievances (ARTPPG) Department Patibandla Ashok Babu, along with several senior government officials.
The oath-taking marks Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury's formal assumption of office as the head of the Assam State Information Commission, which is responsible for ensuring the implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act in the state.
