Gauhati University to Provide Free Duplicate Academic Documents to Flood-Affected Students


 

GUWAHATI: Gauhati University to issue duplicate academic documents free of cost to students who lost or damaged their original certificates in the recent floods affecting several districts of Assam.

The decision was approved by the Vice Chancellor, on Thursday, August 6 is aimed at helping eligible flood-affected students continue their education without disruption. The facility will initially cover students from Sivasagar, Charaideo and Jorhat districts, along with any other flood-affected districts notified by the Government of Assam.

Students can apply for duplicate copies of University-issued documents, including mark sheets, pass certificates, degree certificates, migration certificates, registration certificates and other academic records, without paying the prescribed fee.

To apply, students must submit a duly filled application form, a certificate confirming the loss of documents issued by either the Gaonburah/Village Head or the Circle Officer of the concerned area, along with any available proof of identity and academic records for verification.

The official said applications can be submitted through its online portal or the concerned branch, with detailed instructions to be notified separately. All applications will undergo verification before duplicate documents are issued.

Notably, the decision comes after the Post Graduate Students' Union (PGSU), Gauhati University, and the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) appealed to the university authorities for issuing duplicate academic documents to flood-affected students.
