Portfolio Distribution for Assam Council of Ministers Announced by CM Sarma


 

GUWAHATI: Portfolio allocation for the members of the Assam Council of Ministers was announced on Monday, June 8, following the approval of the Governor of Assam.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the details through a post on X, outlining the departments assigned to each minister in the new cabinet.

The portfolio allocation is as follows:

1. Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma (Chief Minister)– Home & Political; PWD (Buildings & National Highways); PWD (Roads); Power; Information, Public Relations, Printing & Stationery; and any other department not allotted to any other minister.

2. Ashwini Ray Sarkar – Social Justice & Empowerment; Soil Conservation; Welfare of Minorities & Development.

3. Ashok Singhal – Health & Family Welfare; Medical Education & Research.

4. Bimal Borah– Cultural Affairs; Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises; Act East Policy Affairs.

5. Biswajit Daimary – Handloom, Textiles & Sericulture; Sports & Youth Welfare; Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship; Indigenous & Tribal Faith & Culture.

6. Jayanta Mallabaruah- Finance; Environment & Forest; Mines & Minerals.

7. Kaushik Rai– Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs; Housing & Urban Affairs; Cooperation.

8. Keshab Mahanta – Revenue & Disaster Management; Science, Technology & Climate Change; General Administration.

9. Krishnendu Paul- Public Health Engineering; Hill Areas; Barak Valley Development.

10. Nilima Devi- Animal Husbandry & Veterinary; Fishery.

11. Pijush Hazarika– Agriculture; Irrigation; Parliamentary Affairs.

12. Dr. Ranoj Pegu– School Education; Higher Education; Tribal Affairs (Plain); Information Technology.

13. Susanta Borgohain – Water Resources; Judicial.

In his post on X, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said he is confident that the Council of Ministers will continue to serve the people of Assam with dedication and commitment while further accelerating the journey of development and prosperity across the state.

Earlier in the day, Sarma had also indicated on X, that the portfolio allocation would be announced soon. 

The portfolio distribution comes just days after 12 MLAs were inducted into the Assam Cabinet on June 5 during a swearing-in ceremony held at the Jyoti-Bishnu Antarjatik Kala Mandir in Guwahati. The ministers took the oath of office and secrecy in the presence of Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
