DoNER Minister Scindia Reviews Northeast Flood Situation, Holds Talks With Chief Ministers


 

GUWAHATI: The Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, on Tuesday, June 30, reviewed the flood situation across the Northeast and held discussions with the chief ministers of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Manipur, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) said.

Scindia spoke with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh to assess the ground situation and ongoing rescue, relief and restoration efforts, the ministry said.

Assam remains among the worst affected, with flooding reported in six districts. Arunachal Pradesh has seen flood-related impacts in 12 of its 28 districts due to continuous heavy rainfall. Sikkim and Manipur are also facing adverse weather conditions, while Meghalaya remains on alert. Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura are being closely monitored, it said.

Scindia assured the chief ministers of full support from the ministry and said the Centre is committed to assisting relief and restoration efforts in coordination with state governments and central agencies, the statement said.

The ministry said it is closely monitoring the evolving situation and maintaining coordination with stakeholders to ensure timely assistance wherever required.
