Fuel Prices in Guwahati Rise Again; Petrol Crosses ₹105, Diesel Nears ₹98

GUWAHATI: Fuel prices in Guwahati have gone up once again, with petrol now priced at ₹105.78 per litre and diesel at ₹97.27 per litre, adding to the burden on daily commuters and transport operators across the city. The latest hike comes amid a nationwide increase in fuel prices on Monday, May 25, triggered by rising global crude oil costs and escalating tensions in West Asia.

State-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) raised petrol prices by ₹2.61 per litre and diesel prices by ₹2.71 per litre across India. This is the fourth fuel price revision in the last two weeks, taking the cumulative increase to around ₹7.50 per litre.

In Delhi, petrol is now priced at ₹102.12 per litre, while diesel costs ₹95.20 per litre following the latest revision.

Officials said the recent surge in fuel prices is largely linked to the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Iran, which has raised concerns over the closure of the Strait of Hormuz — a key global oil transit route. The geopolitical tensions have pushed international crude oil prices higher, prompting OMCs to revise domestic fuel rates.

Fuel prices were last revised on May 23, when petrol prices were increased by ₹0.87 per litre and diesel by ₹0.91 per litre.
