GUWAHATI: Guwahati is likely to witness fresh spells of rain and thundershowers over the next few hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its latest nowcast issued on Sunday morning, May 24.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Guwahati, the city is expected to remain under a generally cloudy sky, with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers likely during the day. The intensity of rainfall may range between 1 cm and 2 cm per hour, while the probability of precipitation has been predicted at over 75 per cent.
Rainfall data collected over the past 24 hours showed that several parts of Guwahati and adjoining areas had already received moderate showers since Saturday morning, although no significant rainfall was recorded during the three-hour period ending at 8:30 AM on May 25.
The weather department has advised residents to remain cautious during thunderstorm, warning that sudden spells of rain and lightning may affect traffic movement and routine activities across the city. Authorities also cautioned that low-lying areas could experience temporary waterlogging if rainfall intensifies.
