Gauhati University organised its first-ever Job Fair on Tuesday, August 25, bringing together 65 companies and more than 500 job aspirants on the university campus.
The participating companies represented sectors including banking and financial services, information technology, healthcare, telecommunications, insurance and education. Recruiters included HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Tech Mahindra, Paytm, Reliance Jio and Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance.
According to the university, 392 candidates had registered in advance, while around 150 candidates registered on the spot. The recruitment process included résumé screening, aptitude and skill assessments, group discussions and personal interviews.
The job fair was organised by the Job Fair Committee of Gauhati University with the aim of connecting students and alumni with employers and improving industry–academia interaction.
The event was attended by Gauhati University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta, Registrar Prof. Utpal Sarma, HDFC Bank Vice President Hemanta Bayan and NEDFi General Manager Olee Bora, among others.
