GUWAHATI: Ghanakanta Gogoi, accused in the deadly Guwahati Hotel Bilas Inn shooting case, died in a police encounter in Sivasagar in the early hours of Wednesday, November 4.

The encounter took place at around 3:10 AM at Phulpanichiga, near Rongmon Dhaba, while police were bringing Gogoi from Guwahati to Sivasagar.
According to preliminary reports, Gogoi allegedly attacked police personnel and attempted to escape from custody.
Police opened fire, leaving him critically injured.
Gogoi sustained a bullet injury and subsequently died.
Sivasagar Town Police Sub-Inspector Debashish Sharma was also injured in the incident, according to reports.
Police were bringing Ghanakanta Gogoi to Sivasagar in connection with Case Number 108/2024, registered at Sivasagar Sadar Police Station.
