GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) carried out an anti-encroachment drive in the Basistha area of Guwahati on Tuesday, June 2, to improve traffic flow and ensure safer public spaces.

Officials removed unauthorized structures and roadside obstructions occupying public pathways and streets. The drive was aimed at easing congestion, improving pedestrian accessibility, and facilitating smoother movement for commuters in the busy locality.
The initiative forms part of GMC’s broader efforts to maintain order in public spaces and strengthen urban management across the city.
The corporation reiterated its commitment to creating a cleaner, safer, and more urban-resilient Guwahati through continued enforcement and civic initiatives.
