GUWAHATI: Unidentified individuals stole gold jewellery worth around ₹7 lakh to ₹10 lakh from Maa Kali Mandir at Natun Bazar in Guwahati’s Basistha area on Friday night, July 24, police officials confirmed on Saturday.

Police have launched an investigation and are examining leads to identify those involved in the theft.
“We have received reports of gold theft from Maa Kali Temple. A necklace, earrings and other jewellery items placed on the idol were stolen,” a police official from Basistha Police Station said.
The Kali Temple at Natun Bazar had been renovated a couple of years ago.
