GUWAHATI: The GST Intelligence and Enforcement Unit, Assam, arrested a man in Jogighopa, Bongaigaon, on Thursday, September 24, in connection with alleged GST evasion amounting to around ₹45 crore.

The accused, identified as Abdul Kader, was arrested with the assistance of the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police, sources said.
According to government sources, Kader was allegedly involved in generating fake invoices and e-way bills and supplying them to various coal businesses.
He had 12 GST registrations in his name and was allegedly operating as a key figure in the coal business.
The GST Intelligence Unit had been monitoring Kader, who was reportedly absconding for several days. He was also allegedly involved in the smuggling of illegal goods, sources said.
Further investigation into the alleged GST evasion and related activities is underway.
