Guwahati: Athgaon Road Over Bridge Approaches To Undergo Repairing, Alternate Routes Announced


 

GUWAHATI: Guwahati Traffic Police has issued certain changes of routes and traffic regulations for the public in connection with the ensuing repairing and restoration works on the approaches of the Athgaon Road Over Bridge (ROB),

According to a public advisory issued on June 25, Thursday, the Athgaon ROB along with the approaches on either side and service roads connecting both the ends of the ROB will be completely closed for traffic movement from both the ends for all kind of vehicular movement as well as for all kinds of pedestrian till the completion of the work. 

The vehicles coming from KC Choudhury Road (Chatribari) towards Bharalumukh will be diverted at Himatsinka Petrol Pump towards Paltan Bazar via AT Road. 

The vehicles coming from Paltanbazar via AT Road will be diverted at Vishal Point through Pan Bazar ROB on Moti Lal Nehru Road towards MG Road. 

Similarly, the vehicles coming from Bhootnath side towards MG Road/ AT Road will be diverted at Machkhowa Point via MG Road / BRP Road/ Dinesh Goswami Flyover. 

The vehicles coming from Reserve Bank of India/ Paltanbazar Railway Station side ROB (Southern Side) towards Bharalumukh will be diverted at Vishal Point via Pan Bazar ROB (Northern Side) towards MG Road via Moti Lal Nehru Road. 

PWRD, Guwahati Central Territorial Road Division will start work from 11:00 PM on June 27 to 06:00 AM on June 29. 

The changes of routes and traffic regulations will be implemented 10:00 PM on June 27 to 06:00 AM on June 29, or until completion of the work whichever is earlier.

“Since the Athgaon ROB will be closed there is every likelihood of traffic congestion in that stretch which may impact the traffic movements in the connected routes,” DCP Traffic said in the public advisory.

The commuters are advised to plan their movement by avoiding this stretch during that period, as far as possible through available alternative routes.
