GUWAHATI: A 40-year-old man was grievously injured after coming into contact with a high-voltage electric wire in Guwahati’s Bhagaduttapur area on Sunday morning, August 23, police said.

The injured man, identified as Nekibur Ali, is a welding worker, according to local residents.
Ali was reportedly taking measurements at the house of Achyut Chandra Barman when he came into contact with the live wire. A loud noise was heard in the area following the incident, locals said.
Ali sustained injuries to his head and multiple parts of his body. He was subsequently admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment.
