Guwahati Sees 350+ Runners at First Promo Run for Sekhon IAF Marathon


 

GUWAHATI: The countdown to the Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon Guwahati began on Sunday with its first promotional run at the Brahmaputra River Front Park, drawing more than 350 runners.

The promo run was flagged off by Air Vice Marshal Shekhar Yadav, Senior Officer-in-Charge Administration, Eastern Air Command. The event brought together runners, fitness enthusiasts and members of the local community, with participants taking part in the run as the city began gearing up for the main marathon.

The promotional run also highlighted the importance of fitness, discipline and determination, which form part of the values associated with the Indian Air Force.

The Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon Guwahati is scheduled to be held on October 4. The event aims to promote fitness and an active lifestyle while commemorating the legacy of Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, PVC, the only Indian Air Force officer to have been awarded the Param Vir Chakra.

With more than 350 participants joining the first promotional run, the event marked the beginning of preparations for the main marathon, which is expected to bring together runners from Guwahati, across Assam and other parts of the country.
