GUWAHATI: The Bishnupur Bimala Nagar Sarbajanin Durga Puja will mark its 60th anniversary this year with the theme “Kischkindha”, inspired by the mythical kingdom of the Vanaras, or monkey warriors, from the Hindu epic Ramayana, ruled by King Sugriva and famously associated with Lord Hanuman.

The Bishnupur Bimala Nagar Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committee has set an approximate budget of ₹45 lakh for this year’s celebrations, reflecting the scale and significance of the diamond jubilee festivities.
The pandal is being designed by eminent artist and Padma Shri awardee Nuruddin Ahmed, renowned for his contribution to Durga Puja pandal artistry over the years. The decoration of the pandal is being handled by his son, Deep Ahmed, who brings a fresh creative vision while carrying forward his father’s artistic legacy.
The theme “Kischkindha” is expected to transport visitors into the enchanting forest kingdom described in the Ramayana, blending mythology, craftsmanship and grand visual storytelling. Given the credentials of the artist duo and the scale of investment, the pandal is anticipated to draw large crowds and become one of the most talked-about attractions in the region this Durga Puja.
As preparations gain momentum, the Bishnupur Bimala Nagar Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committee has expressed enthusiasm about celebrating this milestone year with grandeur, paying tribute to 60 years of tradition while embracing artistic innovation.
