GMC Seizes 29,620 Kg of Single-Use Plastic in Guwahati


 

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has seized 29,620 kg of single-use plastic as part of its ongoing drive to curb plastic use and promote responsible waste management in the city.

The civic body on Saturday, August 29, said on the microblogging platform X that it is taking sustained action against single-use plastic as part of its efforts to build a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Guwahati.

“Guwahati Municipal Corporation is taking sustained action to reduce the use of single-use plastic and promote responsible waste management across the city,” the GMC wrote on X.

As part of the enforcement drive, the 29,620 kg of seized single-use plastic was handed over to M/S Prime Poly Industries in Bamunimaidam for recycling and further processing.

The GMC said the move is aimed at ensuring that the seized plastic waste is properly processed while supporting its efforts to reduce the use of single-use plastic across the city.
