GUWAHATI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in Kamrup Metropolitan district over the coming days, prompting the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) to issue a statewide advisory warning of possible waterlogging, flash floods, localised landslides and traffic disruptions.

ASDMA said the heavy rainfall in Kamrup Metro, coupled with very heavy rain forecast over neighbouring states during the next three to four days, could also impact adjoining districts of Assam. Authorities warned that the weather conditions may aggravate urban flooding, slow vehicular movement and increase the risk of landslides in vulnerable areas.
District administrations have been directed to closely monitor the situation, while emergency response systems have been kept on alert to respond to any weather-related incidents.
The disaster management authority has advised daily commuters and long-distance travellers to avoid unnecessary movement during periods of intense rainfall and plan their travel accordingly. Residents of low-lying and hillside areas have also been urged to remain vigilant and watch for signs of flooding or landslides.
The public has been urged to follow official weather bulletins and advisories issued by local authorities to ensure safety during the expected spell of heavy rain.
