GUWAHATI: Indian shooters Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh clinched the gold medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the Asian Games 2026 in Nagoya, Japan, on Friday, September 25.

Their victory marked India’s first shooting gold at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games and the country’s second gold medal overall, after the women’s cricket team opened India’s gold-medal tally at the Games.
The Indian pair, who were paired at the last minute, scored 484.6 points in the final to finish at the top. South Korea’s Suhyeon Hong and Gaeun Choo secured silver with 478.0 points, while Iran won bronze with 415.8.
The Indian duo led South Korea by 6.6 points, underlining their strong performance in the medal round.
The gold also marked India’s first shooting gold of the Nagoya Games and came after both shooters had endured disappointment in their individual events. Suruchi had missed out on the women’s 10m air pistol final, while Kamaljeet finished ninth in the men’s event, just one point short of a place in the final.
Paired together for the mixed team event, the duo made the most of their second opportunity and delivered India’s shooting gold of the day.
Kamaljeet said the medal was the result of seven years of hard work and dedicated the victory to his coach and family. He also said the Indian shooting team was expecting to win more medals at the Games.
President Droupadi Murmu congratulated Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh on their gold-medal performance, praising their focus, composure and teamwork. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also congratulated the shooters, describing their victory as a “golden finish” and praising their precision and partnership.
India’s gold medal tally at the Nagoya Games now stands at two, with the women’s cricket team having won the country’s first gold of the Games.
