Sharing the update on X, Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve stated, “Kaziranga at your Doorstep: Now on Amazon & GeM empowering EDC women with conservation linked livelihoods!” The initiative aims to support women associated with Eco-Development Committees (EDCs) by connecting their handmade products with wider markets across the country.
The products include eco-friendly handcrafted items inspired by Assam’s culture and biodiversity, such as woven baskets, decorative pieces, and artisanal goods made using sustainable materials. The initiative has been launched under the “One Horn Nation Kaziranga” brand, reflecting the park’s efforts to combine conservation with community-based economic opportunities.
The move is expected to strengthen livelihood opportunities for local communities living around the park while encouraging environmentally sustainable entrepreneurship. By creating market access through e-commerce platforms like Amazon and GeM, the initiative also seeks to promote Kaziranga’s cultural identity and support rural artisans.
Located across Nagaon, Sonitpur and Golaghat districts in Assam, Kaziranga National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its rich biodiversity and for housing nearly two-thirds of the world’s great one-horned rhinoceros population. Spread across more than 858 square kilometres along the Brahmaputra floodplains, the park is also home to significant populations of Bengal tigers, Asian elephants, wild water buffaloes and swamp deer.
