GUWAHATI: Residents across Kamrup Metropolitan district received emergency alerts on their mobile phones on Tuesday, June 2, after the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Guwahati, issued an extremely severe weather warning.

According to the alert, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, strong surface winds and light rainfall are likely to occur at isolated locations across the district over the next one to three hours.
The warning was issued in the public interest by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), urging residents to remain cautious and take necessary safety precautions during the period of adverse weather.
Authorities have advised people to avoid open areas, stay away from trees and electric poles, and remain indoors whenever possible until weather conditions improve.
