Four Schoolgirls Go Missing from Guwahati’s Basistha Area, Search Operation Underway


 

GUWAHATI: Four school girls from Guwahati’s Basistha area have gone missing since Monday, June 1, prompting a search operation by the police and raising alarm among residents of the area.

According to family members, the girls had left their homes in the Beharbari area on the morning of June 1 to attend classes at Beltola Majhipara Middle English School. The students reportedly departed around 8 am as part of their usual routine.

Concern grew after the girls failed to return home by evening. Their families initially carried out searches in nearby areas and contacted relatives and acquaintances, but no information regarding their whereabouts could be obtained.

The missing girls have been identified as Nirupai Ray, Ayushree Singh, Jilmil Daimary, and Rumi Baruah.

Following unsuccessful attempts to locate them, the families lodged a missing persons complaint at Basistha Police Station. Police have since launched an investigation and initiated efforts to trace the students.
