Man Dies After Alleged Roof Slab Collapse at Under-Construction Building in Guwahati


 

GUWAHATI: A man who had travelled to Guwahati with his mother for cancer treatment allegedly died on September 7, after a concrete roof slab from an under-construction building fell on him, leaving him critically injured.

According to the media reports, the deceased has been identified as Monowar Ali Sheikh, a resident of Golakganj. He had accompanied his mother, Marjina Bewa, to the Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute when the incident allegedly occurred.

According to the family, a portion of the roof slab of the hospital’s under-construction building reportedly broke loose and fell on Monowar. He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

Following his death, the family lodged a complaint at Birubari Police Station, seeking action over the incident.
