GUWAHATI: Manipur gymnast Ariha Pangambam has created history by becoming the first Indian gymnast to win a gold medal in the senior women’s individual event at the Aerobic Gymnastics Asian Championships.

The 22-year-old Indian gymnast secured the title at the 10th Aerobic Gymnastics Asian Championships in Tagaytay City, Philippines, held from August 4 to August 7. Pangambam scored 19.100 points in the final to finish at the top of the continental field.
Her winning score comprised 8.650 points for artistry, 7.600 for execution and 2.850 for difficulty, helping her claim India’s maiden gold in the senior women’s individual event at the continental championships.
Pangambam’s achievement marks a significant milestone for Indian gymnastics, as she became the first Indian to top the podium in the event at the Asian Championships.
