UGC-NET is conducted on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC) to determine eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as Assistant Professor, admission to PhD programmes, and Assistant Professor-cum-PhD admission in Indian universities and colleges.

The examination will comprise two papers conducted in a single three-hour session. Paper I will contain 50 questions carrying 100 marks and assess teaching and research aptitude, while Paper II will include 100 subject-specific questions carrying 200 marks. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.

Candidates must carry a printed admit card and a valid photo identity proof to the examination centre. Entry will not be permitted without the required documents. Electronic gadgets, study materials, calculators, and other prohibited items will not be allowed inside the examination hall.

This year, NTA has expanded access by adding new examination centres in the North-East region and introducing Forestry and Statistics as new subjects under the UGC-NET framework.

Candidates have been advised to regularly check the official UGC-NET website for updates regarding city slips, admit cards, examination schedules, and other important announcements.
