GUWAHATI: The old Saraighat Bridge in Guwahati is set to reopen to vehicular traffic from 12.30 PM on Tuesday, September 15, after remaining closed for more than two months for repair work.

The bridge was shut to traffic from July 13 to September 15 to facilitate repair and maintenance work on the railway bridge. The work was undertaken by the Northeast Frontier Railway as part of efforts to ensure the safety and stability of the structure.
The closure had affected daily commuters travelling between Guwahati and North Guwahati, with motorists required to take alternative routes during the repair period.
The Northeast Frontier Railway had announced the planned closure on July 7 and urged commuters to make necessary arrangements and use alternate routes until the work was completed.
The reopening is expected to ease traffic movement in and around the Saraighat area and provide commuters with an additional route between the two sides of the Brahmaputra.
