According to an official communication issued by the Office of the Senior Section Engineer of N.F. Railway, the closure has been scheduled from 10:00 PM on May 21 to 6:00 AM on May 22 to facilitate urgent repairs on the road deck at the Jalukbari end of the bridge.
The railway authorities stated that the repair work requires the use of heavy machinery and cannot be carried out safely under partial traffic conditions, especially with damage reportedly aggravated following the onset of the monsoon.
The complete traffic block has been sought to ensure the safety of both maintenance personnel and commuters, while also protecting the structural integrity of the bridge during the repair process.
Authorities have advised commuters to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate during the temporary closure period.
