GUWAHATI: A police officer posted at Satgaon Police Station in Guwahati is facing serious allegations after a local youth accused him of physical assault without provocation in the Panjabari area during the early hours of Saturday, May 30.

The complainant, identified as Aman Hazarika, alleged that the incident occurred while he was returning home after shutting down his business establishment for the day. According to Hazarika, the officer, identified as Jayanta Rajkhowa, allegedly attacked him without any apparent reason.
The victim further claimed that the entire episode was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the locality.
Hazarika also alleged that the police officer appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. In addition to the alleged assault, the complainant claimed that abusive language was used against several people present at the scene, including women.
Following the incident, Hazarika lodged a formal complaint at Satgaon Police Station seeking appropriate action against the officer.
A probe has been initiated to look into the case.
