GUWAHATI: The Assam government has intensified preparations for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled to be held on June 21, with senior officials directed to ensure a secure, transparent and student-friendly examination process across the State.

Sharing details on X on Saturday, May 30, Assam Chief Secretary Ravi Kota stated that a comprehensive video conference was held with all District Commissioners (DCs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), jointly with the Director General of Police, Assam, to review preparedness for the re-examination. The review meeting was conducted in accordance with directions issued by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and guidelines laid down by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
According to the Chief Secretary, the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination will be conducted across 88 examination centres in 17 examination districts, covering more than 43,000 candidates throughout Assam.
During the meeting, district-wise preparedness was reviewed in detail and officials were instructed to ensure that all arrangements are personally supervised to avoid any logistical or administrative difficulties on the examination day.
The discussion covered examination centre readiness, deployment of security personnel, CCTV surveillance, biometric verification systems, power backup facilities, transportation support for candidates, and effective inter-agency coordination.
Authorities were also directed to strictly implement the dual-layer frisking protocol and ensure secure handling and transportation of confidential examination materials to maintain the integrity of the examination process.
Special emphasis was laid on candidate welfare, with officials instructed to ensure availability of drinking water, adequate seating arrangements, functional fans, clean washrooms, shaded waiting areas, and other essential amenities at all examination centres.
The Chief Secretary further directed all concerned officers to remain fully vigilant and responsive to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination across Assam.
