GUWAHATI: English virtual band Gorillaz will perform in Guwahati on January 31, 2027, as part of their first-ever India tour.

The announcement was made on X by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday, September 10.
The band is scheduled to perform at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati, bringing their music and visual world to the city as part of the India leg of their tour.
Formed in 1998, Gorillaz was created by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett. The band is known for combining music with animation and storytelling, with its fictional members at the centre of its identity.
The band primarily consists of four fictional characters- 2-D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs. Their fictional universe has been presented through music videos, interviews, comic strips and short cartoons over the years.
The Guwahati show will mark one of the stops on Gorillaz’s first tour of India, giving fans in the Northeast an opportunity to see the virtual band’s live performance in the city.
