GUWAHATI: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing of Assam conducted early morning searches on Tuesday, May 26, at multiple locations across Guwahati, Belsor (Nalbari), Gauripur (Dhubri) and Raha (Nagaon), in connection with alleged misappropriation of funds of the Assam Fishery Development Corporation Ltd. (AFDC).

During the operation, officials arrested seven individuals linked to the case, including senior and technical staff of the corporation. Those arrested include the then Managing Director Anuradha Adhikary Sarma (ACS); Executive Engineer Jyotish Saikia; Assistant Executive Engineers Birinchi Adhikary and Jyoti Prasad Saikia; Assistant Engineer Saburuddin Ahmed; Project Manager Bhagirath Das; and Assistant Technical Officer Rabindra Narayan Deka.
According to officials, coordinated raids were carried out at several premises as part of the ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities and misuse of government funds.
All the accused have been detained and are currently in the custody of the Anti-Corruption wing. They are expected to be produced before the court on Wednesday, May 27.
The investigation is ongoing and further details are expected.
