GUWAHATI: Several people, including students, are feared trapped after a building collapsed at Satya Niketan, RK Puram in Delhi on Sunday afternoon, September 6, triggering a major rescue operation. Two people have been rescued from the debris so far, while authorities are yet to ascertain how many others remain trapped.

The incident took place in the Satya Niketan area near Delhi University’s South Campus, a major student hub with several hostels and rented accommodations. According to reports, around 50 students were inside the building when it collapsed.
The Delhi Fire Services received information about the collapse at around 1.30 PM and immediately deployed five fire tenders to the site. The South Campus police station received a PCR call at around 1.34 PM reporting the collapse near Nanakpura Gurdwara.
Delhi Police, fire personnel, CAT ambulances and other emergency services are carrying out rescue operations at the site. A team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has also reached the spot to assist in the operation.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the adjacent building had been vacated as a precautionary measure. Teams from the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), NDRF, Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police, MCD, CATS and Civil Defence are coordinating the rescue efforts.
“The situation is being closely monitored, and all concerned agencies are working in coordination,” Gupta said in a post on X.
