GUWAHATI: A woman was allegedly beaten to death by her at Nepali Chowk in Kharghuli area on Saturday night, August 1. The victim has been identified as Malati Boro. Her son, Dipen Boro, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

According to police, the accused allegedly assaulted his mother, resulting in her death. Local residents apprehended him shortly after the incident and handed him over to the police.
The DCP (Central) said the accused allegedly smashed his mother's head against a wall using his bare hands. Police added that the mother and son frequently quarrelled and that the accused was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. They were also reportedly living in extremely poor conditions.
A team from Latasil Police Station reached the spot and launched an investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. The DCP said the CID and a forensic team are expected to visit the scene as part of the investigation.
Neighbours said they were left shocked by the incident, which unfolded in the otherwise quiet locality of Kharghuli. Police have not yet disclosed the circumstances that led to the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
