According to officials, samples of the suspected vegetables were collected on-site following prescribed food safety procedures during the inspection and investigation process.

Authorities stated that based on the evidence gathered and observations made at the spot, the identified stock suspected to be adulterated was destroyed to prevent it from entering the consumer market.

The action comes amid rising concerns over the alleged use of chemical colouring agents and other unsafe practices to make spoiled vegetables appear fresh before being supplied to markets across Assam and neighbouring regions.
