GUWAHATI: A series of tragic road accidents were reported in Assam’s Lakhimpur district over the past 24 hours, leaving three people dead and several others seriously injured, raising concerns over road safety and reckless driving along National Highway 15.

The most fatal accident took place on Saturday night, May 30 at Borpathar in Narayanpur, where a hatchback car collided head-on with a motorcycle on NH-15. The impact of the collision was severe, killing three individuals on the spot.
The deceased have been identified as Dimba Pegu, Manabjyoti Doley, and Deepjyoti Doley. Police reached the scene soon after the accident and recovered the bodies for necessary legal procedures.
In another incident reported from Mazgaon in Nowboicha on Sunday, May 31, a four-wheeler vehicle rammed into a two-wheeler along the same highway. The motorcyclist sustained critical injuries in the crash and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. His condition is reported to be serious.
Meanwhile, a third accident occurred at Kathalguri in Dhakuakhana, where a speeding car crashed into an e-rickshaw. The impact caused the e-rickshaw to overturn into a roadside ditch, seriously injuring one of its passengers.
All injured persons have been admitted to hospitals for treatment, while separate investigations have been launched to look into the incident.
