Tenure of One-Man Commission Probing Zubeen Garg's Death Extended by Three Months


 

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has extended the tenure of the one-man inquiry commission investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of late singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore by another three months.

According to a notification issued by the Political (A) Department dated July 1, the Governor of Assam has approved the extension of the commission headed by Justice Soumitra Saikia, a judge of the Gauhati High Court.

The extension has been granted in continuation of an earlier government notification dated March 24.

As per the order, the commission's tenure has been extended for a further period of three months with effect from July 4, or until the submission of its report, whichever is earlier.

The one-man inquiry commission was constituted to examine the facts and circumstances leading to the death of late Zubeen Garg, who died in Singapore on September 19, 2025.
