Nagaland Paralympian Hokato Hotozhe Sema Tops World Para Athletics Shot Put Rankings


 

GUWAHATI: Nagaland's celebrated Paralympian Hokato Hotozhe Sema has achieved another major milestone by attaining the World No. 1 ranking in the men's Shot Put F57 category, according to the latest World Para Athletics Rankings.

Subedar Hokato Hotozhe Sema of the 9 Assam Rifles secured the top spot in the rankings, further cementing his status as one of India's leading para-athletes on the global stage.

The achievement comes shortly after Sema became the first Paralympian to be conferred the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, adding to an illustrious 
list of honours that also includes the Arjuna Award. He had earlier won the bronze medal in the men's Shot Put F57 event at the Paris Paralympics 2024, becoming one of India's standout performers at the Games.

India dominated the latest World Para Athletics Rankings in the event, with fellow athletes Rana Soman and Juyal Shubham securing the second and third positions, respectively, highlighting the country's growing strength in the men's Shot Put F57 category.
