Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma made a big announcement. The State Cabinet approved the draft Uniform Civil Code or UCC Bill. The Chief Minister clarified that the government has completed preparations to introduce the bill in the House soon.
The bill will be tabled in Parliament on the last day of the current Assam Assembly session. As the assembly session ends in May, the state government has decided to formally introduce this important bill in the assembly on the same day.
