The beneficiaries included Blind School Moran, Sishu Sarathi, Ashadeep and Atma Nirbhar – Ek Challenge. The funds were raised through a theatre production titled A Wedding to Remember, staged by the group on February 8 this year.

According to members of the group, the proceeds collected through sponsors, well-wishers and corporate contributions were earmarked for organisations engaged in supporting persons with disabilities.

Speaking to GPlus, cast member Naomi Agarwala said the initiative was aimed at contributing to organisations working in the sector.

“We had staged a play in February this year and the proceeds from sponsors, well-wishers and corporates were donated to four NGOs,” she said.

Representatives from the recipient organisations said there is still a need for greater awareness regarding the challenges faced by individuals with mental and physical disabilities.

They noted that although government schemes and legal provisions have improved support systems over the years, rehabilitation and care programmes continue to require sustained financial and institutional assistance.

Citations and cheques were presented to the organisations by chief guest Satyamrit Kagti.
