Thousands Throng Zubeen Kshetra as Assam Remembers Its Beloved Zubeen Da


 

GUWAHATI: Thousands of people gathered at Zubeen Kshetra on Saturday, September 19, to pay tribute to singer Zubeen Garg as Assam marked one year since the passing of its beloved “Heartthrob”.

Zubeen Kshetra has witnessed a steady stream of people since Thursday, with fans and admirers thronging the memorial site to remember the cultural and social icon. The venue saw day-long programmes, including prayers by people from different religious communities, musical performances and various forms of art created as tributes to Zubeen.

People from different walks of life paid their respects to “Zubeen Da” in their own ways, turning the memorial site into a place of remembrance and celebration of his life and work.

On September 19, the main commemorative day, Bhagawat Naam and other religious activities are being held throughout the day. A Bhaona performance is scheduled to begin around 6:30 PM and is expected to continue until around 9–9:30 PM.

Several cultural personalities, student leaders and politicians also visited Zubeen Kshetra to pay their respects.

The venue has been filled with gamusas, floral tributes and messages of remembrance as people from across Assam gathered to honour Zubeen Garg and mark one year since his death.
