GUWAHATI: A team from Basistha Police Station has apprehended two alleged interstate snatchers linked to the Irani group, according to police.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Kishan Kumar (38) and Aniket Das (26), both residents of Gerabari in Bihar’s Katihar district.
According to police, the duo had allegedly been involved in snatching gold chains and money bags across Assam and neighbouring states for a considerable period. Police alleged that the accused used motorcycles fitted with fake registration number plates while committing the crimes.
During the operation, police recovered a motorcycle and several items allegedly used in the commission of the offences.
The seized items include:
> A Pulsar 220 motorcycle bearing registration number AS01DY8362, suspected to be stolen and allegedly used in the crimes
> One snatched chain, suspected to be gold
> Two master keys
> Two pointed metal rods allegedly used to puncture vehicle tyres
> Three packets of irritant substance (Bandor Kekura)
> One four-way cross socket wrench, allegedly used to change number plates on motorcycles
> One screwdriver
> One double-ended wrench
Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the duo’s involvement in other snatching cases across Assam and neighbouring states.
