GUWAHATI: Two women from the Northeast were allegedly molested, assaulted and threatened by a group of unidentified men in South Delhi’s Nehru Place area early Sunday, May 10, following which an FIR was registered at Kalkaji Police Station.
According to the FIR, the incident took place around 6:30 am when the two women were having tea by the roadside in Nehru Place after leaving a nearby venue. The complainants alleged that two men initially began catcalling them, after which several others joined the group and attempted to provoke a confrontation.
The victims, one of whom is from Assam, alleged that they were assaulted during the altercation. One of the women was allegedly molested and her clothes were torn. The group of men were also accused of using abusive language and threatening the women with dire consequences if they reported the incident.
In her complaint, one of the women alleged that a member of the group hit her friend with a bamboo stick while the accused also blocked their path as they attempted to flee.
The accused have not yet been identified. The complainant told police she would be able to identify the accused if produced before her.
Investigation into the matter is underway.
