GUWAHATI: Just an hour of rainfall on Saturday, May 23, led to severe waterlogging on Guwahati’s GNB Road, causing traffic congestion and inconvenience for commuters and local residents.

Residents say the drainage situation has not improved significantly despite the ongoing construction of saucer drains along the stretch. Speaking to GPlus, a local resident said that while a few areas witnessed less water accumulation, most parts of the road continued to face waterlogging during heavy rain. He also added that people are equally responsible for the condition, as waste and garbage often clog the drains.

The newly built drains are expected to create a smoother drainage channel, allowing rainwater to flow out more efficiently and preventing stagnation on the road. However, Saturday’s rainfall once again exposed the persistent drainage challenges in the area.
