Down town Venture Labs (dtVL), the technology Business Incubator of Assam down town University, successfully organised dtVL Ideathon 2026 – “Forging Ideas, Building the Future” at K Block, Assam down town University, under the NIDHI iTBI Programme, supported by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, in collaboration with the E-Cell, Assam down town University.
The Ideathon witnessed participation from over 60 teams, with 45 teams presenting innovative ideas across areas including Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Agriculture, Healthcare, Sustainability, Urbanization, Tourism and Sectors of National Importance. Participants represented institutions including Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology (GIMT), Assam Don Bosco University, Gauhati University, Assam Engineering College, Dhemaji Engineering College, Royal Global University and Assam down town University.
The competition was conducted in two rounds, with 14 teams advancing to the final presentation round. The finalists presented their ideas before a jury comprising Mr. Sanjeev Sarma, Founder and Chief Software Architect, Webx Technologies, and Mr. Biswajit Hazarika, Managing Director, Trans Virtual Pvt. Ltd.
Team Bharatdigicom of Assam down town University emerged as the winner, securing the First Prize of ₹20,000. Team Aade Energy of Assam Don Bosco University and NEF Law College secured the Second Prize of ₹15,000, while Team Nexus Realm of Dhemaji Engineering College won the Third Prize of ₹10,000.
Addressing the participants at the conclusion of the event, Mr. Pranjal Sharma, Associate Director (i/c) – Entrepreneurship and Incubation, Assam down town University mentioned, “Innovation begins when we give our ideas the courage to be seen, tested and pursued. Platforms like the Ideathon give young innovators an opportunity to take that first step and turn their ideas into solutions that can create real impact.”
The Ideathon served as a platform for students, research scholars, startups and independent innovators to present their ideas, receive industry feedback and explore the potential of transforming innovative concepts into viable solutions. The event also reinforced the university’s efforts towards nurturing a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.
