GUWAHATI: A four-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her mother in a shocking incident that took place at Banglaguri Line in Kharahat Tea Estate, located in Assam’s Demow, on Monday, April 27, sparking widespread outrage among residents.

The victim has been identified as Rushita Kalindi (4). Speaking to GPlus, an official from Demow Police Station said that her mother, Kalpana Kalindi, is accused of attacking the child with a sharp weapon while the girl’s father was away at work.
Following the incident, Kalpana allegedly attempted to take her own life using the same method. She was initially rushed to Demow Model Hospital and later referred to Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh. Her condition is reported to be critical.
The child’s father, who works at a factory, rushed home upon receiving information about the incident. He immediately took his daughter to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared her dead.
The motive behind the heinous crime remains unclear. Police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
The incident has left the local community in deep shock, with residents expressing grief and concern over the disturbing nature of the case.
