GUWAHATI: Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Chakradhar Gogoi is leading in Assembly Constituency 89 Khowang after Round 7 of counting, holding a margin of 7175 votes over his closest rival as of 12:12 AM.

According to the latest figures, Chakradhar Gogoi has secured 33,477 votes, while Lurinjyoti Gogoi of the Assam Jatiya Parishad is trailing with 26,302 votes.
Independent candidate Biju Dowarah has polled 2025 votes so far, followed by Dr. Prabhakar Das (Independent) with 1066 votes. NOTA (None of the Above) has received 1044 votes.
With 8 more rounds of counting remaining out of a total of 15, the BJP candidate currently maintains a comfortable lead, though the final outcome will depend on trends in the remaining rounds.
The counting of votes for the high-stakes Assembly elections began on Monday, May 4, morning across Assam.
