GUWAHATI: The Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) has taken an early lead in Kokrajhar as counting progresses, with its candidate Sewli Mohilary, wife of BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, ahead in her electoral debut. As of 12:05 PM, in Round 3 of 14, she has secured 14,441 votes, leading by 4,828 votes over her nearest rival.
Lawrence Islary of the United People’s Party, Liberal (UPPL), who was elected from the seat in the 2021 Assam Assembly elections, is trailing with 9,613 votes. Congress candidate Manik Chandra Brahma is in third place with 1445 votes, followed by Tonon Daimary of the Voters Party International with 454 votes.
Among the other candidates, Independents Ranjoy Kr. Brahma and Lobo Narzary have polled 359 and 248 votes respectively, while NOTA has received 366 votes so far.
With only three rounds of counting completed, the trends remain preliminary, though the BPF candidate has established a clear early advantage.
