Under the approved decision, Computer Operators appointed on May 25, 2023, will now be eligible for promotion to the post of Junior Administrative Assistant after completing three years of qualifying service instead of the earlier requirement of four years.
The Cabinet has also approved an increase in the upper age limit for ex-servicemen seeking entry into Assam Government services for Grade III and Grade IV posts.
The maximum permissible age for such candidates has been raised from 42 years to 45 years. The move is aimed at providing ex-servicemen with a wider opportunity to participate in the state government recruitment process.
The decisions were taken at the State Cabinet meeting held on Monday, September 7.
